I'm still into Naruto...just not so much the fandom. The fandom, and a lot of the people therein, burnt me out :\.

BUT KISAME. Kisame is the best vehicle for jokes, ever. I see Kisame and Itachi less as a duo of H8 and DESTRUCTION and more as a very much under appreciated comedy routine. One guy's got gills and the other has the emotional acuity and verbal repertoire of a wooden clog---how can that not lead to awesome?

Okay, just to put this out there: I don't like a lot of bromance pairings. I have brothers---three of them, in fact---and I couldn't ever imagine myself romantically involved with them. 'Cest is usually on my EWW list, only with the exceptions of Al/Ed and Sam/Dean, and for the very same reasons. Canonically, the Elric brothers and the Winchester brothers have the same basic makeup: Oedipus complex squared, plus epic quest, plus soft-bigger younger brother, plus hard-smaller elder brother, plus unresolved father issues up the wazoo---guns and alchemy are the only things separating these stories. In both cases, these brothers are BEYOND being close---it's almost canon 'cest to begin with. There is a blonde girl between them (Jo, Jessica, and Winry), but they keep on traveling, staying together and leaving their golden women behind.

Sam/Dean has a desperate, horrible kind of love, the kind of love that consumes. It's obvious that if anything were to happen to Sam, Dean would go over the edge. He would either kill himself, or drink himself to death, which is really just suicide on an installment plan. They have never had anything but each other, and to go for another people would to be setting aside that relationship. The way they relate to each other define who they are, really---Dean has an older brother COMPLEX, and Sam will always use the baby brother wibble-puppy-eyes to get his way (also, he POUTS OMG).

I love that desperate dynamic. I just do. It is so charged.

Oh dear. I tend not to give my opinion as it can get me in a lot of trouble, naturally, as I tend to be critical. So...here is my opinion of the fandom in general: it seems to be on the decline. Personally, I blame a) the fillers, and b), the sheer breadth of fics written in the fandom. After those painful years of fillers, all but the most loyal filtered out, and the

Kishimoto's sudden love of OOC character moments isn't helping, either :(. He's resorting to gags and fanservice to wave the audience in to keep paying attention to his admittedly lukewarm plot movements. I've been pretty unimpressed with Shippuuden, to be truthful. He has had a lot of places to expand on the character development that has happened in the past two years, but he can't seem to sit down and just CONCENTRATE on one for more than five minutes. The first arc, aka Sakura is Awesome, Please Stop Hatin' On Her & Oh Jesus the Ambiguously Gendered Evil People Are Trying to Kill Gaara (and They Succeeded D:) Arc, kept things together, but everything since has been blah.

Don't get me wrong---I <33333 Karin, Sai, and older!Chouji, but what the hellllll was he thinking with the whole Asuma thing? PS, I'd also like to see a female character other than Sakura actually do something---and Sakura had a good couple hundred chapters' worth of uselessness to make up for, so that almost doesn't even count.

UH.

So. I think the fandom has exhausted itself to crack pairings, mirroring the lack of plot post-Valley of the End. Team Motherfuckin' Snakes has a glimmer of hope in just the sheer crack appeal, but Sasuke's grand lack of creativity has lost me. Kishi failed to give me any meaty Team Ten interaction in the I Bet the Fandom Wouldn't Care if I Popped Off Asuma (Oh Wait, People Liked Him?) Arc, so I may be just a little sore about that.

Uhhhhhhhhh.

This has to have some kind of backstory to it, otherwise I'm wholly indifferent. I'm not a HUGE Hyuuga fan to begin with, so unless we're talking Gai/Hiashi I know HOW this works, I have no idea.

Um... hm. Iruka shows up to challenge Hiashi over his treatment of his daughters, which he partially witnessed with Hinata and heard about from Kurenai?

...then, Hiashi finds himself fascinated with the adorable way the chuunin schoolteacher challenged the head of the Hyuuga clan. And perhaps fascinated with the way Iruka gets huffy. Also the way Iruka's ass moves when he storms off, sick of Hiashi's "I am so much better" attitude. Which only serves to intrigue Hiashi more-- attractiveness and being a spitfire being what I think would be two Hyuuga turn-ons.

I was checking out your fics on ffnet, and I love all of them, I truly do. But have you abandoned SelfReliance? I think it is one of the best Naruto mpreg fics out there. I just want to know if it is abandoned, I'm not pressuring you for an update.
